The Smart Marketplace for Building Energy Efficiency

BEEM is RAAEY's smart energy marketplace for energy efficiency investments in buildings, bringing together all interested parties within the wider energy efficiency market of Greece, particularly focusing on Consumers (i.e. residential and commercial/ office building owners, individuals, companies) and "Service" Providers (i.e. Energy Service Companies “ESCOs”, contractors/ suppliers of Energy Efficient “EE” equipment and/or services, financiers, etc.).

The main objective is to scale-up the pipeline of energy efficiency projects and accelerate implementation overcoming common market shortcomings through standardisation and aggregation of associated investments as well as mobilisation of and effective coordination between stakeholders. Such investments can be, for example, the installation of or replacement with new – energy-efficient technologies and applications (insulation of building envelope elements, heat pumps, smart systems and automation systems, mechanical ventilation systems, heat recovery, etc.) as well as residential and/or office buildings integrated photovoltaic plants with or without an electricity/ battery storage system “BESS” (and connected to the Distribution Network).

How it works

Step 1

Create an account

Registration of Consumers is simple through email confirmation. The types of users supported on the Request side of the Marketplace are representatives of the residential or tertiary building sector. In the case of the residential sector, the Platform supports all types and sizes of houses, from a single apartment to a multi apartment building, while in the case of the tertiary sector respectively the facilities supported include typologies ranging from a single office space within a building, or an entire building complex.

Step 2

Complete the Consumer Module

The user creates tailored energy saving interventions (Requests) through the Building Energy Saving Calculator - the “Consumer Module”. The tool enables the evaluation of applicable energy projects in terms of their energy saving and economic performance and assist the user to identify the best options. Following successful completion of the Consumer module, the user may submit the created Request to notify possible Providers of relevant Services.

Step 3

Interact with Providers and request additional information

The Consumer gets notified when an offer submitted by Providers active in the region, matches the requested Services and may request additional information regarding the cost of individual works, materials, equipment manufacturer(s), duration and warranty coverage, estimation of duration of works, etc. The exchange of information can continue at this stage until any open issues and clarifications that may arise from either side are clarified.

Step 4

Agreement for Energy Services

The Consumer is now able to review the overall detailed specifications and relevant provided information as well as the Provider's reputation (overall review as a firm) and then decide on accepting of the offer (official Agreement for Energy Services) and then proceed to contracting at a next stage.

Identify appropriate energy saving solutions

Appropriate sizing and evaluation of the requested equipment and/or related construction works is necessary. For this purpose, the Platform provides the “Consumer Module”, a user-friendly interface – tool providing these capabilities, to enable the creation of tailored "Requests" concerning the desired energy saving interventions from the Consumer’s side, while estimating their performance in terms of energy and cost savings. After performing the necessary calculations, the Consumer Module displays the results capturing key indicators of each intervention, to enable the user to evaluate them in terms of their energy saving and economic performance and identify the best options. 

Connect with energy service Providers

Once an offer is created and submitted by a Provider, a Consumer with the corresponding matching Request, instantly receives a notification including all important information on technical and economic aspects of the requested service(s). In sequence, the Consumer may request additional clarifications from the Provider through the Platform regarding the cost of individual works, materials, equipment manufacturer(s), duration and warranty coverage, estimation of duration of works, etc. The exchange of information can continue until any open issues and clarifications that may arise from either side have been clarified.

Get access to funding

Upon completion of the Consumer Module and before final submission, the Consumer may additionally request for the provision of Financing for the selected investment(s). This is treated as a separate Service from the Platform as it aims to further promote supporting schemes for energy saving projects and can be achieved in the form of either grant or loan and depending on the relevant available options at the period of the Request. In the case of availability of such Service, the Consumer may be asked to indicate the amount of own contribution/ equity. However, it cannot be received as a standalone Service from the Platform as it has to be combined with specific energy saving Services based on criteria set by the Provider
